Cardinal Speak: The Same “Old” Nest – The Same “New” Cardinals

The new season has been going by in a blaze. Already, the team has completed its first three tournaments and is at the halfway point of the season.

The first tournament of the season was the North Mecklenburg Classic, which was followed by the Bob Jones Invitational. Most recently, the team competed in Asheville Cougar Classic.

The team is young this year. Having only retained a few Cardinals from previous years, the majority of the team is new. It is a building year, and halfway into the season, the team continues to learn, grow, and mature. Already, there are a handful of Cardinals "perched to fly" and begin excelling in their speech events. Below is a review of how the team has performed in its first three tournaments.

The North Mecklenburg Viking Classic

The North Mecklenburg Viking Classic was the first tournament for many new P.O.B. Speech and Debate competitors. As we became more aware of the competitive rigors of speech and debate, we also became increasingly inspired by our potential.

Bob Jones Invitational

This was the first time that P.O.B. competed in the Bob Jones Invitational. The weather was beautiful and the competition was equally awesome.

With each tournament, we grow stronger both in our ability to compete and in our camaraderie. This invitational was an important step in Cardinal Speaks character - knowing who we want to be as a team and who we need to be as individuals.

Asheville Cougar Classic

The Asheville Cougar Classic has been a pinnacle moment for Cardinal Speak. During this tournament, we truly melded as a team. Fifteen members converged upon this rigorous tournament; fifteen members left as better speakers and closer friends.  We continue to perfect our speeches in preparation for the state and the national tournaments. Each tournament brings us one rung closer to a moment of peak performance.
